Errors while updating payroll has always been an issue the only thing changes are the error codes. This mostly happens due to interruption during the downloads by security features of the system which are constantly updated with changes due to security reasons. “Error 15223: The QuickBooks Desktop update did not complete successfully.” and “Error 15223: Cannot connect to QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.” are most common error most of QuickBooks desktop users are experiencing these days. Lets see how to fix it.
Change the settings if Internet Explorer.
Open Internet Explorer.
Select the Gear icon, then Internet Options.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Under Security, locate Use TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and Use TLS 1.2..
Make sure Use TLS 1.0 is unchecked while Use TLS 1.1 and Use TLS 1.1 are checked.
Select Apply, then OK. Retry the update. If the error persists, try the 2nd step.
Reregister the .dll files
At the the .dll file gets corrupt due to with the update fails. here is how to reregister the .dll files.
Copy the following: regsvr32 /s %SystemRoot%\system32\softpub.dll. and paste it in the windows run box and click ok. then copy the following: regsvr32 /s %SystemRoot%\system32\WinTrust.dll. and repeat the same steps and you will receive a message, “the file was registered successfully.”
Update Quickbooks
At time the Quickbooks application is not updated due to which its not able to receive the most recent tax table updates therefore update your QuickBooks to the most recent patch update & restart the computer and retry the payroll updates. If the problem persists then try the payroll update in safe mode or after disabling the firewall.
